Easter Craft DIY: Toilet Paper Roll Bunny

Here are some adorable Easter Bunnies you can make to include in your child’s Easter basket using your empty toilet paper rolls. They are also great to make to give as a party favor or for a kid’s craft. Gather your favorite pastel print scrapbook paper, a few items that you can purchase at the Dollar Tree, glue, scissors and we will make one together. Also, I have a video further down in the post that you can follow along.

Here are the supplies that you will need:

  1. Tissue paper: 1/2 of a sheet
  2. Empty toilet paper roll
  3. Googly eyes: 1 cm
  4. Pom poms
  5. Printed scrapbook paper: cut 5″ x 6
  6. Coordinated solid card stock for the heart feet and bow
  7. Baker’s twine or embroidery thread
  8. Tacky glue or hot glue
  9. Scissors
  10. Black pen
  11. Goodies to put in the toilet paper roll
  12. Paper trimmer
  13. Bow punch

First you will want to cut your patterned paper to 5″ x 6″. Then cut one sheet of tissue paper in half the long way. Then you will need to fill your toilet paper roll and place it in the center of the tissue paper.

Pull up in the middle of the tissue paper and then on the sides. Flatten the tissue paper up around the toilet paper roll as much as possible and place the patterned paper over the top.

Make sure that the center of the paper lines up with the middle of the tissue paper where the two sides will separate to make the ears.

Run a line of glue on the under side of the patterned paper and overlap to seal the paper around the tissue and toilet paper tube.

Cut a piece of twine about 6″ long and tie it around the tissue paper with a double knot in the back.

Trim the ends down to about a 1/2″ long then separate the tissue to make the ears.

Cut a 3″ x 3″ heart out of the coordinating card stock for the feet. Click here for a .pdf pattern:

Heart pattern for the feet

Glue the heart on the bottom for the feet. Then glue the googly eyes about 1/3 of the way from the top on the front.

Next, glue the small pom pom for the nose and draw on the mouth.

Glue a large pom pom on the back for the tail about 1/3 up from the bottom.

Finally glue a paper bow or ribbon bow below the mouth or you can glue it at the top of the tube as a hair bow.
